Hull & Goole
One of the key features of Hull and Goole is its very strong connections with Northern European and Scandinavian markets, which is predominantly reflected in the volume of unitised trade - that is, containers and roll-on/roll-off (roro) - generated by Hull in particular, as well as Goole.
But there is more...
At Hull, possibly the UK's largest transformational port project is about to commence through the development of Green Port Hull. This project is anchored by the prospect of Siemens establishing an offshore wind turbine manufacturing and assembly facility for the development of Round 3 offshore wind farms at Dogger Bank, Hornsea, and Norfolk Zone. It is forecast that this scheme could create more than 10,000 jobs for Hull and the wider city region.
Hull is building upon its foremost position in handling forest products from Scandinavia as well as handling a diverse range of bulk commodities, while BP has a strong presence in the chemical market.
At Goole, the UK's most inland port, ABP continues to support the port's development, especially as a key distribution centre through its proximity to the major conurbations of Leeds, Sheffield, and Manchester, as well as being located directly along the M62 - the major artery linking the North West of the UK to the East Coast.
